"Catharsis", Video, performance art (2023)
This video was a project where I had to create a piece featuring repetition and I used this project to work out the trauma of my Father cheating on and leaving my mother and my family while he was a prominent member of the church. The plates I had throughout the video were representative of the different emotions I experienced during the months following the reveal of his secret life and how I was responding to it all.
These are the plates I broke throughout the video. Each one has a primary emotion in the center that I was feeling after experiencing my trauma, and then I covered the plates in writing about how I dealt with and interpreted said emotion.
These are my preliminary sketches and the storyboard I drew up to help me with shooting the video.
